Bogdan’s Cross, From Zero To Hero

Follow Bogdan on his Templar journey

An Epic Journey Of Faith And Redemption

Step Into The Medieval Ages

In Bogdan’s Cross, you play as the titular Bogdan, a humble shepherd bear (yes, he’s a bear) who grows from simple farm hand to a legendary Templar knight, and lends his hand and sword in a quest to eradicate the source of darkness that dares to threaten his world, and in the process, find out more about the history of the Templar Order. The era of the Crusades is redefined in this tale, where real historical figures from time long ago make their appearance along with a medieval era setting.

Engage with other renowned Templar knights and notable figures from the Crusades, while exploring the beautiful landscapes, from the lush hills of the countryside to the bustling medieval towns and cities. As you traverse the land, discover collectibles to further your understanding and immersion into the world of Bogdan’s Cross, as well as unlock special abilities for Bogdan. These could be anything from period-related artifacts and relics, to pages of the Latin Vulgate bible. Historical details are presented with a splash of creative liberty, but nonetheless ensures an authentic and immersive experience.

The game also features intense close-quarters combat that tests one’s combat prowess and reflexes, characteristic of knightly battles. Enemies range from hostile bandits to sinister otherworldly entities that lurk where darkness lies. Wield faith and righteousness, and join Bogdan on his quest of wonder and mystery.

In The Road Of Solo Game Development

Bogdan’s Cross is the debut game of solo dev Federico Moreno Breser, who had just entered game development after over 16 years of experience in the animation industry. In 2005, he founded Mcfly Studio, a prominent animation studio based in Buenos Aires that has worked with major clients such as Disney, Fox, Netflix, and Ubisoft, to name a few.

As an animation artist, he learned and honed his craft in storytelling and visual artistry to the best of his ability. Breser is the creator and director of the animated series Tierra de Rufianes, co-director of film noir animated feature film El Paraiso, and even debuting a VR narrative story called REBELS at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.

Now, he strives to bring his love for storytelling in a different medium—gaming. “This game represents my first foray into the world of video games, driven by a passion to blend historical authenticity with compelling fiction,” Breser said in the game’s Steam description.

Visual Storytelling Done Right

From the trailer and the screenshots themselves, Bogdan’s Cross is definitely an adventure game full of content, coupled with an exciting narrative and stunning visuals. Bogdan’s Cross also plays out as a 3D side-scroller, with the viewframe moving as if it was a camera recording a video. It makes the experience more compelling, as if we are reminded that we are the audience in Bogdan’s story, watching his life unfold before our very eyes.

“Every element of Bogdan's Cross, from the detailed environments to the intricate character arcs, reflects my dedication to creating an immersive and engaging experience. I hope that players will find the same sense of wonder and excitement in playing the game as I did in making it,” developer Braser concludes.

Bogdan’s Cross will be released on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2025.
