Caravan Sandwitch Lets You Explore A Sci-Fi World
Welcome home to Cigalo
Explore, Search, And Find Your Sister
Meet A Colorful Cast Of Characters Along The Way
Caravan Sandwitch brings you on a trip across your home planet—a sci-fi Provence-like world— in your trusty caravan in hopes of finding out what happened to your missing sister and her whereabouts. While on your rescue mission, you get to interact with all types of people and robots living on the little patches of livable land left in the declining world of Cigalo, abandoned for good by most of humanity after being exploited to emptiness.
Take all the time you need to explore. There is no combat, no death, no timer—just go at your own pace in any direction your heart takes you. Upgrade your van throughout your explorations to open up the world even more, clearing passages and blocked entrances of ancient ruins. There is much of the world to explore, and who knows? You might just meet the mysterious SandWitch themselves, and find answers for your sister’s disappearance.
A Smashing Start
Plane Toast Studio is an independent game developer studio based in Paris, France and was founded in 2021. The game has been in “intense development” for over two years. “'We are thrilled to finally announce Caravan Sandwitch! After two years of intense development, with its highs and lows and especially strong teamwork, we are really proud of the results. Knowing that people will follow our work, play our game or even livestream is really exciting!'” Plane Toast said in a dev blog post.
The game has garnered over 10k wishlists even before its appearance on the Wholesome Direct in the recent Summer Game Fest, prompting the developers to thank their supporters profusely and to look out for more updates. Caravan Sandwitch also appeared in this year’s Steam Next Fest, where they shared that the game is the 27th most played demo, averaging about 4.4k daily active users, and a grand total of 40k Steam users who launched and played the demo. Talk about amazing numbers for an indie game.
The team is incredibly active on social media and their Steam page’s development blog, so be sure to check them out for updates!
A Heartwarming Adventure
The game has received a shower of praises for the chill and relaxing gameplay, along with the gorgeous visuals it boasts. It’s no wonder that even for a reportedly short demo, players still find themselves entranced by the environment just for how stunning it is. What more when the full game is released? It’s something worth looking forward to.
Caravan Sandwitch will be coming out later this year on PC (Steam, Epic Games), Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. The demo is still available on Steam as of writing should you wish to give it a spin!
