And your aunt who lives there just had a great idea—entrusting you with the managerial position. Manage your own megastore, explore the town, build friendships and make enemies in this cozy management simulation RPG!

Begin a whole new life in this seaside town, and prove yourself. Design and organize your shop the way you like it, manage the inventory, strike trade deals, and work the cash register to grow from a small common store to a mega supermarket empire!

But be careful—not all locals may want you to succeed. Therefore, you must also build relationships with the townsfolk after business hours and get to know them on a deeper level. Along the way, you can turn them into loyal Discounty customers and even uncover the hidden secrets this tight-knit town has been hiding.

A Win For The Danish Games Industry

Crinkle Cut Games is a Danish independent game studio founded by three game development graduates in 2021, who were given a cultural grant by the Danish Film Institute to create their debut game in the industry, Discounty. The game reached the ears of British publisher PQube, and they have in turn invested in the project to further extend the audience and reach of the game.

The developers have stated that their goal is to “build a sustainable and inclusive game studio”, focusing on creating cozy and quirky games that include “well-crafted interactions and a dash of satire and subversion.” They are also fond of odd and under-explored genres “especially those many wouldn’t consider being ‘real games’,” which Discounty seems to perfectly fit.

In a post on their official Twitter (X) page, they cite Stardew Valley’s Joja Mart as an inspiration, along with indie game Moonlighter and Monopoly.

Supermarket Super Game

With a game like the more realistic Supermarket Simulator making headlines across social media, Discounty might just be the next up and coming game to scratch the itch of those who like management simulators. The game was featured at this year’s Wholesome Direct, introducing their cute supermarket simulator to more people.

Discounty doesn’t have a set release date or time frame as of writing, but it will be coming out in 2025 on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One!
