Été Welcomes You To Color In Your Life

Experience a kaleidoscopic world of colors

Paint With All The Colors Of The Wind

Unleash Your Inner Artist!

Été (French for summer) is a relaxing and chill painting game where exploration and creativity go hand in hand. You play as a budding painter who visits the town of Montréal for the summer, and explores the colorful town, capturing its wonders and beauty into your canvas. Make use of watercolor to paint the world around you in 3D. Everything you discover while exploring the town is added into your album in the form of stunning watercolor stamps, which you can then incorporate into your artworks.

The locals you meet around town might also commission you for specific artworks! Or just follow your own creative imaginations and let the sparks and paint fly on the canvas. These artworks can then be displayed on your walls, auctioned off at the town café, or even exhibited gallery-style in your own exposition.
Of course, a budding painter needs the perfect atelier to work in. Build and customize your own creative nest with furniture you collect or purchase from the different merchants around town, changing their colors at your leisure as well!

No failure, no pressure—just creativity and relaxation at your own pace. Let your imagination and inner artist run wild in Été as the friendly neighborhood painter.

Exhibiting The Best Of Montréal

Impossible is an indie game development studio based in Montréal, Canada. Été is their debut game, starting development back in 2020, while the very first prototype for the game was made back in 2016.

As noted from a Twitter (X) post, they take inspiration from Super Mario Sunshine, the I Spy riddle books, and the film Amélie. “One thing that has been inspiring me a lot is the I Spy books,” Bonin explained. “I just love the whimsy of Walter Wick, the photographer [.…] There’s such a joy in finding all the elements in those pages. And I think that’s kind of what was the inspiration for this [game],” Impossible’s founder and creative director Lazlo Bonin shared in an interview with The Tribune.

The game is also set in their home city of Montréal, which gives them an edge in displaying what the city has to offer. “I just love the city,” Bonin said. “I absolutely love the architecture, and […] I love the scale of Montreal as a city. I love the density; the duplexes and triplexes create these small pockets of space and community.” And what better way to showcase the beauty of Montréal through an interactive art video game?

Welcome Color Into Your Life

The game is simply stunning, with its watercolor visuals and art style that is easy on the eyes. The trailer showcases the fun gameplay, creating your own artwork just the way you want it to be through the hundreds upon hundreds of stamps and images you collect while exploring the city. The calming music by Eric Shaw and Zoé Dumais also lends a hand to the overall experience, transporting you immediately into the artist’s life in the scenic city of Montréal.

Été will be released on July 23, 2024 on PC (Steam), and will be available to play in both English and French on release.
