KARMA: The Dark World Tests Your Wits And Sanity

Step into an alternate East Germany in 1984

Uncover The Real Truth

Hail The Leviathan Corporation…Or Not

In KARMA: The Dark World, you will live through the eyes and ears of protagonist Daniel McGovern, a Roam Agent for the omnipresent Leviathan Corporation’s Thought Bureau. The game takes place in the year 1984, in East Germany, where Leviathan controls all. But things aren’t quite what they seem. The corporation claims to have your best interests at heart and are always on your side…but is that really true?

As a first-person cinematic psychological thriller, players will experience everything that Daniel is in real-time. Use your keen intellect along with investigative tools to solve the puzzles that keep the truth away from you. Sometimes, you would even need to dive into the minds of suspects, to retrace their steps and gather missing information. With every puzzle solved, you might just get nearer to finding out who and what Daniel really is, and what the Leviathan Corporation is all about.
In light of the Summer Game Fest, developer Pollard Studio and publishers Wired Productions and Gamera Games just dropped an interesting duo of trailers for the game, called “Hope” and “Hope(less)”. These two trailers are mirrored inverses of the other, but which one is reality and which one is your fantasy?

Find out in the full release of the game! Get ready to embark on a Lynchian narrative adventure of love, loss, and deception, and immerse yourself in a vivid dystopian Germany.

Aiming For An In-Depth Story Experience

Pollard Studio is an indie game development studio based in Shanghai, working on their first game, KARMA: The Dark World. First teased in the 2021 Tokyo Game Show, they aim to create the game as an in-depth story experience for players.

Development started during the pandemic, but Pollard Studio was lucky enough to continue development remotely, with different partners contributing the motion capture, music, and more. Nevertheless, this appeared to have slowed down production by a tad bit. But now with new trailers out and the team participating in various showcases, Pollard Studio seems to be on a roll for KARMA’s release. With a spectacular but uncanny soundtrack and jaw-dropping visuals just from the trailers themselves, the full version of KARMA for sure will be well put together.

Full Of Mysteries To Uncover

KARMA: The Dark World seems to be a game where there’s a lot to unpack, judging from the different trailers. As a trailer, they’re not supposed to put out the whole plot immediately, but there’s a lot of mysteries that just get you thinking. Just who is Daniel? What really is the deal with the Leviathan Corporation? Why are there people with CRT televisions for heads? Is this actual reality?

There are more questions than answers, and the only way to truly explain them is through the full release.

While there is no exact timeframe of release, KARMA: The Dark World will be coming on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and is available to wishlist on Steam, GOG, Epic Games, and PlayStation now.
