Neva: Living In A World At Death’s Door

Play as Alba and her wolf companion, Neva on a wonderful journey of growth and love

Alba And Her Wolf Cub, Neva

Immerse Yourself In A Colorful But Dying World

Neva is the story of Alba, a young woman who gets bound to the wolf cub Neva after a traumatic encounter with dark forces who take away Neva’s mother’s life. Together, they will embark on a journey to survive and make a new home in a decaying world. From a young and rebellious cub to a mature adult wolf seeking her own identity, Alba and Neva’s relationship will undergo various trials that test their love and commitment to one another.

Based on the gameplay trailer, you control Alba and Neva in a magnificent 2D world in a side-scrolling fashion, moving across different landscapes and biomes while also cutting down foes that dare stand in your way. The art is delicate, coupled with the haunting music and minimal UI elements, everything truly lends to an overall immersive experience.

Bringing Art Into The Gaming Sphere

Nomada Studio is a Barcelona-based indie game studio created in 2018 by long-time friends Adrián Cuevas and Roger Mendoza, and artist Conrad Roset. After working in the game industry for a while and traveling around the world, Cuevas and Mendoza returned to Barcelona. There, they met Roset, who had a long-time dream of bringing his art into the video game realm. They instantly clicked, and immediately set off to create their first game.

2018 puzzle platformer game GRIS was their very first foray together into the gaming world, and was successful in its launch. The title holds over 61 thousand Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam, with glowing reviews on its gorgeous art, direction, and emotional storyline.

Now, they are back with Neva, which invokes the same feeling as GRIS with Roset’s wonderful art style taking the stage yet again. “Everything that made GRIS special has gone into this and more,” they said in their dev blog.

Another Masterpiece In The Making

Following positive feedback on their first title GRIS, Nomada Studios is doing it again with Neva, which looks promising. The art style from Roset and the fluid movement based on the gameplay trailer really shine and make for a good gaming experience, similar to their first game. If you’ve loved the first title, then you will surely love Neva.

While there's not much fine details as of yet, the recent trailers and the past accolades of the developers still make it a game to very much look out for.

Neva is coming this 2024 to PC, Nintendo Switch, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X|S
