Superstar indie titles make their way to the top

Standout Titles For 2024

Vote For Your Ultimate Game Of The Year Now!

The 42nd Golden Joystick Awards is coming up real soon, and while voting for most of its other categories has ended, there still lies two more high-stakes awards—the Best Game Adaptation award and of course, the Ultimate Game of the Year award. The highly-prestigious Ultimate Game of the Year award showcases “the best efforts from an incredible year for video games,” and among the list lie three amazing indie titles this year!

Profound horror-platformer Animal Well, engaging poker-like deck building title Balatro, and inventive factory-building simulation Satisfactory make it to the 2024 shortlist. These three amazing indie darlings make their way to the top, shoulder to shoulder with some other stand-out titles such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Black Myth: Wukong, Silent Hill 2, and Metaphor: ReFantazio, to name a few.

While the voting for the other categories have closed, the poll for the Ultimate Game of the Year and Best Game Adaptation awards will be up until Friday, November 8th, 3PM PST / 6PM EST. If you would like to support any of these three games, make sure to hop on the voting page on GamesRadar+ to make your vote count!

42 Years And Counting

The Golden Joystick Awards is the longest-running video game award ceremony, still going strong every year since its first ceremony in 1983. Its prestige and popularity is well-known, with this year’s voting polls closing in at a record 10 million votes in the initial rounds. The 42nd iteration of the event this year will be held in London, and will also be livestreamed globally on all major streaming platforms such as YouTube and Twitch. This year’s host is Ben Starr of Final Fantasy XVI renown, alongside numerous guest presenters from the world of gaming, from fellow actors and actresses such as Patricia Summersett (The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom) and Neil Newbon (Baldur’s Gate 3) to producers in the industry like Abubakar Salim. Be sure to tune in on Thursday, November 21st to see all these amazing games get recognition—and to see who bags the highest award of them all!
