Mastering and Pushing the Boundaries of City-Builders and Simulation Games

The Channel’s Humble Beginnings

Biffa Plays Indie Games joined YouTube in 2011 and became a reliable source of inspiration and information about simulation and city-builder games. The very first video made on this channel covers the game SimCity or SimCity 5, which is not an indie game. However, this paved the way for the creation of future content about indie simulation and city-builder games.

The channel initially had a meager audience, but it gained traction after making videos about a game called Banished. In this game, you manage exiled travelers in their bid to create their own opportunities in unknown lands. The channel provided useful information like maintaining hunger levels at a minimum or establishing sustainable practices to gather resources while creating an ideal settlement. From there, the channel took off and covered various simulation and city-builder games.

Becoming the Go-to Channel for City-building Advice

What made Biffa Plays interesting is its unique approach to creating towns or settlements and providing fixes to the most common issues players might encounter in a game. For instance, you might be looking for information about how water physics works in Timberborn. Biffa Plays will explain this information while showing you how to apply it in your settlement or “Districts,” as it was referred to in this game. Watching Biffa Play’s content not only follows how he creates a beautiful town from scratch but also gives important advice and fixes to any issues you might encounter while playing.

Another interesting aspect of this channel is its focus on updating the audience about gameplay changes, new updates, and mods. For instance, Biffa Plays created new videos about Cities Skylines’ Green Cities DLC. Despite having videos about this game years ago, Biffa Plays made sure that players are in the loop about its latest DLC. In doing so, Biffa Plays helped players know significant changes in the game and how to use or apply them in their current walkthroughs.

Building a Dedicated Community that Lasts

Currently, Biffa Plays is covering Timberborn, Oxygen Not Included, Manor Lords, and Cities Skylines 2. Though Timberborn and Oxygen Not Included was released years ago, many people still watch his content as he creates new ways to make these games fun and efficient. Meanwhile, Biffa Plays is testing the mods and boundaries of Cities Skylines 2 by creating large dams or fixing almost impossible traffic-related problems. Since Manor Lords was released recently, Biffa Plays mostly concentrates on providing efficient ways to play the game, like creating sustainable food supplies and efficient resource allocation.

Pushing the boundaries of simulation and city-builder indie games, providing advice and fixes to most common issues, and making the process entertaining allows Biffa Plays to maintain a healthy and positive community on YouTube.
