Core Keeper 1.0 Now Available With Full Story Arc And New Content
The endgame has arrived
Core Keeper Exits Early Access
Version 1.0 Comes With New Content
Co-op multiplayer mining sandbox adventure Core Keeper is now fully released on version 1.0 after two and a half years in Early Access! With version 1.0, the game’s main story arc is now officially complete and players are able to reach the story’s endgame. However, updates will not stop with just the full release! “We’re still thinking about new content and all the possibilities for the future of Core Keeper,” developer Pugstorm assured in the announcement post on the Steam community log.
New content updates have also been added into the game, implementing improvements to both early and late game content. One such example is the “new and improved world-generation system and world seed functionality” which allows players to freely customize the Core Keeper world they will be starting in. More caverns and more ores if you want an easier time mining, or give yourself a challenge by putting less. Biome chaos is also a feature added in! Watch as individual biomes overlap in weird ways. And as the main story quest is completed, a new endgame biome is now available to explore, called The Passage. This deep dark biome underground is chock full of primordial creatures out to get you, and whole new mysteries to discover.
Players are also treated to a ton of new loot and equipment, as well as two new combat styles—the Mage and the Summoner! Their talent trees and the magic system is a welcome addition to the list of classes one may like to play. Other highlights include PVP functionality for those looking to test their might against other players in a show of power, three new hydra bosses to defeat, new cuddly companions to love, and so much more!
Developer Recommends To Start Over To Experience 1.0 Content
However, Early Access players with older worlds will not be able to experience 1.0 content using the pre-release worlds they’ve been playing in, renamed as “Classic” worlds in-game. This is due to the technicalities that prevent Classic worlds from supporting the new content, such as the change from infinite worlds to a finite world with The Passage endgame biome. Thus, in order to fully experience version 1.0 of Core Keeper at its best, Early Access players must start anew and with fresh and updated worlds. Version 1.0 worlds will also be the only ones to receive further updates.
But not to worry! Classic worlds are still available to play should you be missing your home and progress from there.
Core Keeper 1.0 And Beyond
Even with a major update such as version 1.0, developer Pugstorm shows no signs of stopping. “We’ll have lots more to share with you soon, but for now we can tell you that we’re looking into making more objects paintable (doors, anyone?) and considering some updates to everybody’s favourite Sky Titan,” they teased in the announcement post.
Core Keeper is available to play on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S for $19.99. The digital Nintendo Switch release is set for September 17th, and will retail for $19.99 as well. However, Core Keeper is 20% off on Steam to celebrate its full release for $15.99.
