Bit Golem, developers of the narrative visual novel Dagon: by H.P. Lovecraft, announced that they have donated over $50,000 USD to humanitarian aid charities such as Save the Children International, Voices of Children, Polska Akcja Humanitarna, and the Polish Red Cross. While the main game is free-to-play on Steam, the revenue was collected from the game’s optional paid DLC with 100% of those net profits going straight to its donation drive.
“What's really cool is that gamers not only enjoy our game, they also chip in by grabbing the optional charity DLCs, which is especially impressive in these difficult economic times and with the current saturation of the gaming market,” Bit Golem said. “So we just wanted to say - big thank you to everyone who joined in!”
The game enjoys phenomenal success as a free-to-play visual narrative game, garnering Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam and a total of 1.7 million downloaded copies. As an extra thank you to the supportive community, the developers have shared that they plan to release a free DLC later on in the future. In addition to that, Bit Golem is also working on a project titled Pool of Madness, which is more of a game than its predecessor with its “combination of horror, roguelite and…pool.”
Face Unspeakable Horrors In Dagon
Dagon: by H.P. Lovecraft is a 3D fully-voiced narrative-driven experience based on the short story of the same title by the renowned cosmic horror author H.P. Lovecraft. It’s a game that is enjoyable for both fans of his Cthulu Mythos work and those who are just starting to dabble into it, presented in an interactive and audio-visual package.
Dive into the tale of Dagon, whose protagonist is a former ship officer battling a morphine addiction. Jump into the Stygian Abyss that is his drug-addled mind and uncover the mysterious horrors of a distant eldritch island, and immerse yourself in the best of Lovecraftian dread.
Dagon: by H.P. Lovecraft is available to download for free on its Steam page, and its three additional DLCs are also on sale right now in time for summer.
