Revive An Old Danchi’s Festival

And Make It A Summer To Remember!

Get ready to jump into this cute summer-y adventure game set in Japan! Laugh, cry, and feel awe in Danchi Days, where you play as lively and passionate Hoshino, a 12-year-old girl who recently moved into the danchi (Japanese housing complex) with her father. Though…it’s a rather old danchi. Most of its residents are elderly, now quietly enjoying their peaceful lives. Hoshino then found out that there used to be a yearly summer festival—right inside the danchi. But as said before, the residents are quite aged…however! Our enthusiastic protagonist decides to take matters into her own hands and revive the old tradition!

Hand out flyers to let everyone know that the yearly summer festival is coming back! There are 151 people Hoshino can invite to the event—while it’s not mandatory to invite everyone, it's a festival, after all. The more, the merrier! With the power of the internet, browse and surf the interwebs by searching keywords to find your neighbor’s personal webpages, full of their own quirks and desires. This is important information, as some of the info (and perhaps the people themselves) will be of help when it comes to festival preparations.

As an inquisitive pre-teen, her curiosity and brightness can go a long way. Hoshino has a Sensing ability, which enables her to observe the rich world of the danchi, and discover its hidden secrets! Anything can give a little surprise. A tossed-aside cigarette butt tells its own story, and the lush trees conceal one sneaky mosquito, waiting for the right moment to pounce. There’s a lot to explore and find, proving this to be one fun-filled summer adventure!

From The Developers Of Anodyne And Angeline Era

Danchi Days is the latest title from indie developers Melos Han-Tani (Anodyne series, Angeline Era) and sandy powder, alongside illustrator mogumu. Inspired by the Y2K and GBA eras of the 2000s, as well as nostalgic games such as Hamtaro, EarthBound, and MOON Remix RPG, the game will surely let players go through a trip down memory lane with its nostalgia, while also mixing in fresh elements and a wonderful story.

Additionally, Danchi Days is directly based on the actual experience of living in a real-life danchi, as co-developer sandy powder has been living in one since November of 2023. “This is an everyday location, and we want players to feel that they can experience extraordinary adventures and excitement - even in an everyday location.” Despite the negative stereotype associated with living in a danchi, sandy powder is determined to show that it's more than meets the eye. “But to me, housing complexes are easy to live in and full of excitement. In historic housing complexes, there are many trees growing between the buildings, and in the summer the shade is very cool. … I want to spread the word about this wonderful way of life in housing complexes through games.”

Danchi Days is now available to wishlist on Steam on its newly live storefront!
