Drova is an upcoming 2D soulslike action RPG where you are accidentally transported to another world. It sounds like your typical Isekai anime, right? However, it’s not all rainbows and sunshine in Drova. You don’t have a harem of cute ladies and overpowered abilities. You are just a part of a struggling tribe and, by a twist of fate, unintentionally sent to Drova.

Learn combat skills to survive in the unforgiving world of Drova. You can wield different weapon types and even equip shields with one-hand weapons. There is also a combo system, so learn the flow of battle to time your attacks. Don’t worry, because most enemy attacks are telegraphed. True to the soulslike genre, stamina management and timing your dodge rolls are crucial. Lastly, you have a special attack meter, which fills up as you land hits to your enemies. Once filled, you can unleash a special attack, dealing significant damage.

Look for teachers to learn new abilities to help you survive against fantastical creatures and opposing faction members. While on the subject of factions, you must pick between two sides with opposing ideologies. These factions rose from a dead empire’s ashes with the knowledge of capturing and bending the nature spirits’ will. The story progression and ending depend on who you choose.

Expect the game to be difficult. There is no spoon-feeding here. There are no quest markers or minimap to guide you. Instead, you have to rely on your observational skills and keen sense of exploration to fulfill quests and, maybe, even find a way outside the everlasting fog.

A Dark Gothic World: Six Years In The Making

Drova - Forsaken Kin was officially announced on May 11, 2021, and its original planned release date is 2023. However, the game development process started way back in 2018. The development progress was slow because, as a fresh indie developer, they did not have the necessary resources to develop and publish the game. Thus, they prioritized developing the game further and looking for a publisher instead of releasing a half-baked game.

In May 2022, Just2D Interactive happily announced on YouTube that they are finally working with a publisher, Deck13. This publisher will handle the game’s marketing and sales and provide feedback on the development process. However, the devs assured fans they had the final say about the game’s development. From here on, they consistently launched events like the "Drova - Arena," now in its 3rd season, and Playtests to gain feedback and polish the game.

After more than six years of development, the devs finally unveiled the release date for Drova - Forsaken Kin. Though they have provided teaser versions for players this past few years, there are tons of mysteries to uncover and mythical creatures to defeat in Drova as the game releases on October 15.
