New update brings in tons of changes, fixes, and improvements

Calling all Flameborn! Enshrouded’s 4th major update, titled Souls of the Frozen Frontier, adds lots of new content and changes to the game. This update is “designed to elevate your gaming experience and make the world of Enshrouded more dynamic and immersive than ever.” First on the list and the biggest change yet, is the introduction of the Albeneve Summits, a massive new mountainous snow biome that is crowned as the highest peak in all of Embervale. The frozen landscape is home to breathtaking sceneries of icy lakes, frozen rivers, deep snow, and unique flora and fauna only available from the towering heights, as well as new settlements to get to know as they carry with them the story of an ancient civilization that once walked these very paths.

As a snow biome, it’s not all beautiful and tranquil as its gorgeous views—the unforgiving cold it brings along will deeply impact gameplay. A new weather system is now in place to complement the addition of a snow biome, introducing dynamic weather all across the land. Players will now need to shelter themselves from the pouring rain, and also craft specialized warming armor, food, and consumables to combat the harsh temperatures from the summit. Additionally, formidable new foes also trek along the snow-covered roads of the mountain, with one particular powerful creature inhabiting the highest of all the highest peaks. Will you be able to slay this enemy?

In terms of base building and honing, it’s about to get much livelier with the addition of farm animals and pets! Non-hostile animals can be tamed and domesticated to produce valuable resources—for a little food and shelter, of course. When well taken care of, these animals can multiply even while you’re away, amassing a huge animal flock. There’s tons of pets and animals to discover across Embervale. And most importantly—yes, you can pet them!

Animals are not the only new welcome additions to the game—new townsfolk scattered across the land are also brought back to life, and more than ready to join your growing settlement. Bring them home by fulfilling their quests, and as repayment for your help, they can assist you in all things related to your base. Place them in your main base, or even your secondary base, ensuring that you are able to access full crafting functionality anywhere. They also make great companions—Townsfolk now wander, sleep in beds at night, and even engage with the Flameborn.

Graphics-wise, there has also been a visual update and tweaks to scene rendering, allowing for better overall visuals, while gameplay changes such as better grappling hook functionality in combat (they can now be used to pull down those pesky airborne enemies), more challenging gliding mechanics for those inclined (togglable in the options), and pausing in single player mode (no more surprise attacks!) have also been added.
