Struck by a kraken’s wrath while out on open sea, you, a wanderer, find yourself ashore on a mysterious forsaken island—the site of an ancient civilization lost to time. Without much of a way of connection to the outside world, you must venture into its dense forest, in search of the very means of escape from the archipelago. However, that’s easier said than done…the key to escape won’t be easy to find, and the island is teeming with cursed monsters that want no more than to tear you apart as their next meal. Will you be able to overcome them, or will you be lost away to time forever?

IfSunSets is a new upcoming survival RPG adventure game that tests your skills and mettle in its vast and unforgiving landscape, with ancient secrets just waiting to be discovered. Scattered across the land are cursed beasts and enigmatic bosses from a time long forgotten, and are not very welcoming with your presence in their island. Gather resources and gain strength through adrenaline-pumping action-packed battles to level up and defeat them, showing them who the true ruler is around here. Create a sturdy homebase to rest at after a long day of gathering and exploring, as nightfall is an entirely different story.

As the resting place for an ancient civilization, the land is tainted with the supposed souls of the people that perished way back when. When night comes, they come alive…in hordes. They will pursue you endlessly, no matter where you hide—keep yourself safe by fighting them in engaging combat, trying to survive until the sun rises once again. And the cycle continues…

Sounds difficult, doesn’t it? Don’t fret! Early Access will also feature the Multiplayer option with up to two players per session, and will be updated as the phase progresses. However, please note that this requires an Epic Games account to function as it makes use of EOS (Epic Games Online Services). As noted in their earlier Steam news post dated August 9th, “For a small developer like us, this is a way to make online play between users across different platforms possible.”

Originally Called NEW DAWN

IfSunSets was up on Steam and in active development since 2023, with developers POLYMORPH constantly posting updates through its social media platforms and on its Steam news log as well. Originally, it was even called NEW DAWN before being renamed to its current name, citing that other games share the same name. “That's when we figured out that players might get confused and we need to change the game name as soon as possible before the game is actually out. We had an internal meeting and YouTube survey and the final decision for the name of our game is 'If Sun Sets'!”

Its beta phase was continuously being worked on alongside the beta testers, with feedback from the players inherently improving the game little by little. So far, comments on the beta have been rather positive save for some glitches and bugs. POLYMORPH also keeps adding more features to the game, and it looks like they won’t stop any time soon!
