Mirthwood Release Delayed To November

Developers “don’t want to release it unfinished”

Mirthwood Gets Delayed Two Days Before Launch

More Fixes To Implement

Enchanting open-world life sim and RPG Mirthwood gets a new release date of November 6th, following news of a delayed release. The news comes just two days before its initial launch on September 11th. Developer Bad Ridge Games posted the announcement on its official Steam page, citing that even with launch supposedly just around the corner, there were still several areas in need of improvement, such as performance optimization, localization, and the inner systems that needed extra attention.

“We know that this is disappointing for many of you, but we want to make sure the game is completely ready before we release it and don’t want to release it unfinished. So, in the meantime, we are going to be holding some Beta weekends where you’ll get to jump in and try out what we’re working on.”

Beta Weekends Planned, Updated Roadmap To Be Released Soon

Despite the delay, Bad Ridge Games would still want the eager players to come around and test the game through upcoming beta weekends. To get access to the game during these periods, you can hop on over to their official Discord server to get an invite as well as get updates on the development. An updated roadmap will also be released real soon, with some post-launch features now being included in the November 6th launch. “Our small team never expected to have quite so many of you along for the ride with us. It's amazing, yet we recognize that expectations are both high and varied! Rest assured, we are working tirelessly to meet them—today, tomorrow, and into the future.”

Reactions to the news are mixed, with many of them expressing their disappointment in the replies to the announcement, but nonetheless showing support to the team for their dedication. One user said, “This is for the better. I’m sure the game is going to be even more amazing by November 6th!” and another shared that “While disappointing, I know its gonna be for the better. Take all the time you need! Excited for Mirthwood!”

The other side only expressed their dissatisfaction, even scolding the developers for their “unprofessional impression” for only releasing the news two days before the supposed release date, with comments like “No shame in delaying to polish it out more but please, two days before RELEASE? Shouldn't all the initial work be done like weeks before release, so you can be sure to make it?” and “It's okay to delay. But come on, two days before release? Did you notice that half of the code was missing, or what? :-)”
