Co-Op Multiplayer Is Officially Added Into The Game

Outbound has officially added co-op multiplayer into the main game! This cozy camper van-riding exploration simulation game was originally only going to be single player, but due to popular demand by the community, the feature was ultimately added into the game. “We spent the last couple of months evaluating different technologies and implemented a prototype of multiplayer into the current version of the game to test it. The results were very promising, so we are now confident enough to officially announce this feature!” Developer Square Glade Games shared in the announcement post on their Steam storefront.

Players will now be able to share a vehicle with three other players maximum. Multiplayer will work through the network and an invitation code; this will mean that the host can directly create a code to share with friends. No third party account will be required, as the developers themselves “don’t appreciate using third party services” themselves as players. They are also currently evaluating if public lobbies and playing with strangers would be something that players would like as well. However, they emphasized that single player will not be left alone, and that they are developing Outbound “for the best possible experience as a single player game,” so players will be able to enjoy the game as much as they would if they played with friends.

Outbound is an open world exploration survival game with base building elements where players will travel across the utopian world in their cozy little camper van. Turn the camper van into the sweet mobile home of your dreams with the wide range of customization options available. Scavenge for materials as you traverse the vast land full of varying landscapes and environments, then craft workstations and tools that will help you in your journey. Your environmentally-friendly vehicle runs on electricity, powered by either the sun, wind, or water. And of course, traveling the world is no easy feat—keep yourself fed by cooking delicious meals with ingredients from your home garden. Nurture and grow the different kinds of vegetables, fruits, and mushrooms you will discover in your journey.

Outbound has no set release date as of yet, but the game is available to be wishlisted on Steam! It also has an active Kickstarter campaign if you wish to support the development of the game.
