Outbound is on a roll! Previously, we covered the addition of co-op multiplayer into the game, and to start off September, the developers at Square Glade Games now introduce another welcome feature—an adorable dog companion, the best bud that will always be by your side! They shared in the Steam announcement post that they weren’t originally planning on the animal companion feature in the game, but they were so touched by the incredible support and feedback of players that they eventually just had to. “This is a huge milestone for us, and we couldn't have done it without each and every one of you.”

Today, they revealed the cute furry companion’s design, which comes in five different skins, two of which are Kickstarter-exclusive add-ons. Have your best buddy with black, brown, or gray fur, or kick it up a notch with bright cotton candy pink and marshmallow blue, complete with rainbow tail! Besides looking stylish and dignified, they’re also very useful! Players will be able to give them commands such as picking up an item, or directing them to a certain position. They are also equipped with their own pouch, where you are free to store items if things are getting a little heavy on the back. You can even send them to deliver the items straight to the van via dog express if you’re out and about foraging for materials!

What a great way to be adventuring! While there are plenty of dog lovers out there eagerly waiting for the game, only time will tell if there will be a feline counterpart to our furry best friend. Keep your fingers crossed!

Multiple Stretch Goals Achieved With Over $219K In Funds

A cozy exploration-adventure in a decked-out camper van seems to be the dream for many, with the game having over 3,808 backers on Kickstarter with almost $219K USD funded for its development. The initial goal was only over $33K, and it has surpassed it by a mile, reaching eight stretch goals and making the game even better than it was originally planned to be.

You’re helping us create something truly special, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us all!” the developers concluded in the announcement post, thanking all their supporters for believing in them and the game. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of Outbound. Stay cozy, keep dreaming, and let’s continue making Outbound the best it can be together!” If you would like to show your support for the game and back its development, the Kickstarter is still up for the next eight days, with one last stretch goal to achieve.

Outbound is set to release sometime in 2025, but the game is available to be wishlisted on their Steam storefront!
