Pacific Drive’s Drive Your Way Update Out Now!

More challenge, control, and variety

Updates and New Contents

Chill or Struggle at the Olympic Exclusion Zone

Ironwood Studios released the Drive Your Way Update, adding more ways for players to enjoy or hate their exploration of the Olympic Peninsula. The developer added seven new gameplay presets for players who wanted a relaxing or punishing experience. These are:

Pacific Drive
Scenic Tour
Joyride
A Sunday Drive
Nuclear Journey
Mechanic’s Road Trip
Olympic Gauntlet
Iron Wagon

One of the interesting presets is the A Sunday Drive, where you explore the region with minimal interruptions from unstable weather conditions or anomalous creatures. Basically, it significantly scales down Pacific Drive’s difficulty. If you want punishing gameplay, try the Olympic Gauntlet, where every aspect of the game is more difficult. For hardcore Breachers, Iron Wagon is right for you as it amps up the difficulty of the Olympic Gauntlet preset. Lastly, you can also edit the presets with the new 50 settings, allowing you to finetune your journey.

Ironwood also released bugs and UX fixes along this major update. Here are the highlights of the patch notes:

Fixed location names. The game will now correctly display the location names.

Updated the Fuel gained/spent to display the correct amount.

Optimized performance for all Platforms.

Driver and GPU-related crashes are now fixed! Make sure to update your latest driver.

PS5 performance mode no longer restricts the player to change its brightness.

Inventory number no longer increases while crafting with a full inventory.

Aside from the additional gameplay presets and fixes, Ironwood also added new contents to the games. This focuses on collectibles, parts, music, and a new cosmetic pack.

New Collectibles, Parts to Paint, and Customizable Music

While the drive around the Olympic Exclusion Zone may be rugged, you can still add a touch of beauty to your trusty car or station wagon. You can now paint their bumpers and wheels to make your wagon unique. You can lighten the mood by painting your vehicle with bright colors or using darker colors to represent the harsh life at the Olympic Peninsula. Two new collectible cosmetics are also available. These are the Antenna Topper and Mirror Hanger, which fit perfectly with the surreal and anomalous theme of the game.

As if a fully customizable station wagon is enough, Ironwood Studios also included the ability for PC players to add their own music. You can visit your local game file folder and add any songs you want to hear while deciding the best parts and accessories for your wagon in the garage or while you are out on the road. However, the developer also issued a warning to players who might stream the game, as they might be at risk of copyright infringement if they play other copyrighted songs.

Anomalous Customization Pack and Beyond

You can further make your journey unique via the Anomalous Customization pack. This anomalous set adds more ways to make your station wagon fit with the strange anomalies found in the Olympic Zone. The set includes:

Mailbox Bunny (Bobblehead)
Sawblade (Hood Ornament)
Tourist (Shifter)
Anchor (Steering Wheel)
Vacation (Sticker Pack)
Anomaly (Decal Kit)

Take note that this is a paid DLC, which is priced at $4.99. Ironwood Studios said that supporting them by buying their DLCs helps them to continue providing content updates to Pacific Drive. Finishing their content update announcement, the developer asked players to stay tuned for their Winter update.

Pacific Drive is available at Steam, Epic Store, and PS5 for $29.99. Its Deluxe Edition is off on Steam for 40% off or $20.99. This special promotion lasts until October 1, so grab a copy right now!
