Deckbuilding roguelike dungeon-crawler Pyrene is now available to play on Steam, and is available to purchase for 15% off while on launch week! Defeat hellish monsters commanded by the malevolent demon Herensuge that are running amok and rebuild your village from the ground up, while also slowly uncovering the mysterious circumstances behind your town’s destruction.

The game is based on Basque mythology, a concept that is not as explored in the video game sector. Developer Two Tiny Dice invites all to learn more about their stories, deities, and creatures. A diverse set of characters is available to play, each with their own unique set of skills. Mix-and-match them to your hero to create the perfect deck!

In its few days of release, it has already attained a Very Positive review rating, with 96% of 189 reviews recommending it for its interesting concept, innovation, and fun and polished gameplay. One reviewer even noted that the developer’s previous game, Forward: Escape the Fold, was also a very good game—Pyrene, even at 1.0, surpasses its sibling in all factors.

1.01 Out On Beta Testing

Despite not even being a week old, Pyrene is dedicated to polishing the game to its full potential—thus the beta server for 1.01 is up and running for those interested to try! The 1.01 testing branch is a test server where players are able to play an upcoming version of the game that includes fixes and tweaks. However, there may still be some bugs and glitches still hanging around in there, and so players are able to access the beta 1.01 to check if it really is working smoothly. To opt into the beta, the instructions are as follows:

　⚫︎　Then go to the "Betas" section

　⚫︎　Select "testing - Branch made for testing new changes" and close the window to launch the update.

The developers over at Two Tiny Dice have been incredibly hands-on with improving and fixing the game, tweaking some bugs that players have pointed out in different channels. Balancing issues, which seemed to be a common complaint, was reworked. However, they had this to say: “To us, one of the fun parts of Pyrene is that you can "break the game" by being extra greedy and accumulating a ridiculous amount of modifiers through the cards, relics, and more. We still want this to be possible but now it'll be more difficult to achieve!” So apparently, in Pyrene, you can be the strongest superhero that has ever lived…if you get enough modifiers.
