Risk of Rain 2 Unveils Roadmap For Seekers of the Storm DLC

Seekers of the Storm 2.0, incoming!

Seekers Of The Storm 2.0 Roadmap Released

Three Phases, Massive Changes

Risk of Rain 2’s most recently released DLC opened to a rather disappointing launch after being riddled with game-breaking bugs and balance issues. However, Gearbox, the new developers, are committed to fix these bugs and to deliver a better experience. As said in their Steam news page, “Our ultimate goal is to build Seekers of the Storm into something that can be celebrated by the community for years to come. Over the next few months, significant changes will come to Seekers of the Storm. The updates that we’re exploring are expansive, so they won’t happen overnight. But the scope of the changes should underline the seriousness we’re approaching this challenge with.”

The major updates are split into three phases, namely:
 ⚫︎ Items & Elites
⚫︎ The False Son Boss Fight
 ⚫︎ Survivors

These updates are being worked on with the help of the active feedback from the community, with Gearbox saying that “The feedback that everyone has sent in so far has been a huge help. It’s already shaping the coming design updates and is helping us get a better grasp of the bugs we’re still facing. The fact that so many of you have reached out with thoughtful ideas has been humbling.” Nevertheless, the developers still encourage players to continue sending feedback through the Risk of Rain official Discord or the official support website.

In fact, this roadmap announcement comes with its own patch, addressing more of the larger bugs such as the overabundance of elites. For more information on the newly released update, check out the Risk of Rain 2 Steam news log!

Significant Changes Coming Real Soon

Phase 1 will focus on redesigning the items and the elites introduced in the DLC, tweaking it to make for more balanced gameplay and combat. While items like the Sale Star are well-loved by the community, the others proved to be less useful overall. As noted in the image above, most of the DLC items will be revamped in some way or another. The Twisted Elites and Gilded Elites are also being changed slightly to be easier to counterplay.

The False Son boss fight will also be reworked to make the overall encounter more balanced for the player with changes such as making the boss’ abilities more clear and fair, as well as preventing its attacks from bypassing obstacles. Pillars scattered around the battle area, which the player will be able to use as a shield, will be moved to be placed in more key areas. Bosses Scorch Worm and Halcyonite are also planned to be changed slightly during this phase.

Phase 3, the Survivor patch, will enhance all three new Survivors in the DLC, with a particular focus on Chef. “Chef could be a lot more powerful and also feel more streamlined. So, while we’re rebuilding his kit to be more elegant, we also want to buff him overall,” Gearbox noted. Chef's abilities, especially their primary and secondary abilities Dice and Sear, are being revisited, with more cleavers to throw as well as more agility to move faster than ever before. The False Son will undergo changes to enhance his unhinged persona, with a focus on Lunar Spikes and Laser of the Father abilities “to be more impactful.” And lastly, the Seeker, is also receiving targeted changes to increase the value of Tranquility stacks and adapt her resurrection capability for singleplayer. More details on these improvements will be provided as the phases progress, so stay tuned for more!
