Following the Super Smash Bros. formula, Rivals of Aether II also brings new mechanics for players to master in fast-paced battles. These offensive and defensive maneuvers will help you survive and corner your opponents. The new combat features are:

⚫︎ Throws
⚫︎ Shields
⚫︎ Grabs
New and returning characters will also have a wide range of moves, including special moves. “Each of these playable Rivals have an expansive moveset featuring new mechanics and special moves that are not only an upgrade over the original game, but new to the platform fighter genre as a whole.” Like the first game, Rivals of Aether II lets you play with friends either locally or online in “1v1, 2v2, or Free-for-All battles.” Dive into the game’s multiplayer mode and show off your best and most powerful moves against other players!

You can purchase the game on Steam at an introductory price of $26.99 USD. What are you waiting for? Beat your rivals with new and updated mechanics in Rivals of Aether II!

Plans For 2024 And Beyond

The fun never stops with the release of Rivals of Aether II, as Aether Studios has shared a roadmap for future content. “Our plan is for all future gameplay content to be free (like characters and modes) and to support development with optional cosmetics only.” This is welcome news for players, as characters and game modes will not be hidden behind a paywall.

Before the end of this year, the developers plan to host an event, improve the in-game menu, and release a set of Halloween skins. For 2025 and beyond, here are the highlights of the upcoming content:

⚫︎ New characters
⚫︎ New stages
⚫︎ Events with themed rewards
⚫︎ Crew Battle Mode
⚫︎ Ranked Rewards
⚫︎ Esport Season 1
