Free Update Gift From Devs For Reaching 5 Million Players

Sabotage Studio has announced a free update for Sea of Stars, titled “Dawn of Equinox”, scheduled for release on November 12, 2024. This new update is a gift from the devs for reaching 5 million players and will bring a new wealth of features, including local co-op, refinements to combat and other quality of life improvements.

Sea of Stars is a Tribute to Classic JRPGs

Released on August 29, 2023, Sea of Stars draws inspiration from classic JRPGs such as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy. In Sea of Stars, players control Valere and Zale, two protagonists known as Solstice Warriors, who harness powers from the sun and moon to stop an ancient evil.

What’s New in the Dawn of Equinox Update?

Local Co-Op Mode, Combat, Revamped Prologue, New Cinematic Scene, and Speedrunner Mode

⚫︎ Local Co-Op

Sea of Stars’ entire story will soon be playable by up to three players in local co-op mode. This new feature allows allies to explore the world and battle together using the Co-op Timed Hits combat mechanic which is announced to be explained in more detail by the devs soon.

⚫︎ Combat

One of the key additions to combat in the “Dawn of Equinox” update is the addition of Mystery Locks, where players must discover the correct ways to break enemy spells each time a new type of enemy is encountered. Certain characters now also have the “Reveal” ability that can offer insights into enemy weaknesses.

⚫︎ Revamped Prologue and New Cinematic Scene

One of the biggest changes in this update is the overhauled prologue. Players will now control the younger versions of Valere and Zale from the beginning of the story. Moreover, a new cinematic scene called “Paths on Water” has been added.

⚫︎ Speedrunner Mode Relic

For players eager to break new records, the upcoming “Dawn of Equinox” update will introduce exciting new features for speedruns. However, details on how these changes will impact the existing “Mark of the Speedrunner” relic, which currently displays a timer and pauses during load times, remain under wraps.
