Lavapotion’s tactical 4X, turn-based strategy game Songs of Conquest has launched the Mixed Factions update that will allow players to combine units from different factions, unlocking a new world of possibilities. The update also includes changes to game mechanics and new maps. This mode enables players to mix units from different factions into one army. For example, instead of razing settlements, you can now take them over as they are. So, even if you start as the noble Arleons, you can add the Barony of Loth, and enlist the undead to your cause via conquest.
Songs of Conquest Is a Combination of Heroes of Might and Magic and Civilizations
In Songs of Conquest, players take on the role of powerful Wielders, who control armies and cast magic using essence, the magical resource in the game. Songs of Conquest is heavily inspired by the classic Heroes of Might and Magic and combines tactical, grid-based combat with 4X kingdom management.
Changes to Essence Mechanics, Two New Maps
Apart from the new game mode, there’s also big changes to the way Essence works. In Songs of Conquest, the five types of essence are Order, Chaos, Destruction, Creation and Arcana, each type helping different wielders cast spells in combat. With the update, it is now possible to gather the best essence generating units from conquered factions to unlock diverse spell-casting options.
Two new maps will also be available as part of the update, Unexpected Allies and Under One Banner. These maps are optimized for playing the Mixed Factions Game Mode and designed for quick access to multiple factions from the start of the game.
The entire changelog for the Mixed Factions update is available at Songs of Conquest official site and their Steam page. Songs of Conquest is part of the Steam’s Turn-Based RPG Fest and is currently on sale for 50% priced at $17.49 USD. Songs of Conquest is currently available on PC via Steam.
