The Fun Never Stops In Stardew Valley
Legendary Fish, Lost Items, And More!
Dive right into Stardew Valley, the beloved farming simulator, with its latest update! ConcernedApe has released update 1.6.9, packed with significant changes and additions to make your farming experience even more engaging. One of the most notable additions is a new NPC who will appear if you lose an item, so you no longer need to worry about permanently losing something. This update will go live on November 5 at 10 AM PST, although the exact release time may vary by platform. Here are some highlights of the new content and features in 1.6.9:
⚫︎ Regain lost items with an NPC located in the Secret Woods
⚫︎ Legendary fish can now be placed in fish ponds to produce legendary fish roe (one fish per pond)
⚫︎ New Easter eggs added
⚫︎ Items dropped in water will now float for a short time
In addition to the new content, the developers also provided a list of fixes, balance changes, and Quality of Life (QoL) updates for the game. For example, you can now sort colored items by color. If you have colored items in your inventory, you can arrange them according to their color, preventing them from being reordered randomly after sorting. While update 1.6.9 is just a regular update, the list of changes is quite extensive, introducing numerous improvements to the game. Here are some of the most exciting changes and highly anticipated fixes:
⚫︎ New items added to the shop
⚫︎ Pine trees now drop one extra piece of wood
⚫︎ The game can recover most corrupted or broken save files
⚫︎ Fixed NPCs avoiding passable terrain features
⚫︎ Fixed NPC reaction dialogues to gifts
⚫︎ Improved grammar and spelling errors in non-English translations
ConcernedApe also released the short 1.6.10 update after a few hours to address some bugs from 1.6.9, with most fixes focusing on crash issues and translations. For more details about these updates, you can visit the game’s Steam page.
A Hilarious Bug Discovered
PSA: there is currently an issue, if you start a new farm on the meadowlands farm and open the animal door on the coop day 1, your chickens will disappear. If you leave the door closed for one day, it should save them. We will fix this. Lore: There is a wild coyote on the farm…

Shortly after releasing the 1.6.9 update, ConcernedApe announced on Twitter that a bug causes chickens in your Coop to mysteriously disappear. This issue occurs only if you created a new farm on Meadowlands Farm and left the Coop’s door open on Day 1. Apparently, an invisible coyote is behind the disappearance of your beloved chickens. If you start a new farm in Meadowlands, you gain access to the Coop alongside two chickens immediately, making them a prime target for the invisible predator.
Fortunately, the developer provided a temporary fix for this bug: simply close your Coop for one day. For those worried about forgetting to keep the door closed, the dev assured fans that they are working on a permanent fix. While this bug was not resolved in the 1.6.10 update, you can expect it to be fixed in the future—allowing your chickens to stay safe. In the meantime, you can follow the dev’s temporary fix to avoid this issue altogether.
