Strange Antiquities Art Contest Challenges You To Design Its Storefront

Showcase your creativity and spruce up the town of Undermere!

Get Those Creative Juices Going

Strange Antiquities In Your Style

While its developers are hard at work, they perhaps need a little bit of help from the community—hence, Strange Antiquities holds a special art contest for all talented artists out there! The end of the month September Edition of the Undermere Herald has been released, detailing a call for all kinds of art imagining the storefront of the mysterious Strange Antiquities shop.

As mentioned in their post, “After seeing the shop’s mysterious interior, we want you to imagine what its storefront might look like. We want to see the full extent of your creativity: you can use any medium — paint, clay, crochet, you name it — to represent the exterior of Strange Antiquities. Get creative, but keep it human-made — no AI allowed.”

Entries can then be submitted through email at contest@badviking.com, and the contest will run until November 15th. The singular lucky winner of this contest will be announced at the end of November and awarded a “secret, exclusive prize.”

A Sneak Peek Into Strange Antiquities' Development

A Much More Engaging Closer Inspection Mechanic

The Undermere Herald also revealed a sneak peek into the gameplay of the upcoming title, showcasing a more in-depth Closer Inspect mechanic in order to have a more immersive and engaging feel to detective work and finding out which of the objects your customer needs. Players from the previous title, Strange Horticulture, will recognize the Closer Inspect tool as something that helped them learn more about the plants that needed to be identified. However, that mechanic was simply just to inspect closer with a magnifying glass, as well as knowing how the leaves felt and what the flower’s scent was.

In Strange Antiquities, this mechanic has been improved to a four-way inspecting tool “so that inspecting feels more intentional and purposeful.” This time around, players will be examining antiques and items, which may greatly differ from each other. The items can be observed through the following categories: Color and Composition, A Sense of Touch, Scent and Sound, and Inner Perception, the latter of which refers to the object’s overall aura and feel. Additionally, certain objects may have more than one singular part, therefore different parts of the object can be investigated. As detailed by the post, “if an item is made up of multiple materials you can mouse over the different areas to check each of them individually. Perhaps one part of an item is warm, whereas the rest of it is cool. Or perhaps the object’s power concentrates in a focal point.”

With that said, Strange Antiquities is promising to be a game to look out for, so check out its Steam page and wishlist it right now! A release date has yet to be announced, so stay tuned for more updates.
