Sunset Hills Achieves Kickstarter Goal

This wholesome puzzle-adventure game is now 105% funded

The Next Three Chapters Are Now Sure To Release

Next Stretch Goal Now In Sight

Sunset Hills, the wholesome puzzle-adventure indie game by Shanghai-based developer Cotton Game, is now 100% (105%, even) funded for development! The game went live on Kickstarter just ten days ago, and it has already achieved its $6800 USD goal. Developer Cotton Game thanked their 230 backers in a post on their official X (Twitter) account, gushing at how “incredible” it was to have acquired their Kickstarter goal.
For Cotton Game, this is such a big milestone after the five years they have spent as a team developing and improving Sunset Hills day by day. As noted in their Kickstarter page, “The game has been developed for over 5 years and has completed the development of two chapters, and we still have a lot to do—polishing, audio design, balancing, localization, and porting—all of which are costly. Having developed this game for years without the support of a publisher or marketing team, we've decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign.” They also shared that the funds will be used for completing the remaining three chapters of the game, further fleshing out Nico’s story.

With further development already fully funded, adorable main character Nico’s journey and experiences will continue to be brought to life.

Follow Army Veteran Nico On His Travels

Sunset Hills is a narrative-driven puzzle-adventure game that brings you into an alternative 19th century and puts you into the shoes of budding novelist Nico after his discharge from the army. In the game, you follow Nico on his travels around the world to seek his former comrades, also meeting a variety of people and experiencing all kinds of events along the way. As Nico gradually learns about life throughout his voyage, his past also gets unraveled.

Gameplay-wise, it’s in the style of a point-and-click game, where you will decipher puzzles and help the people you meet, and even assist in solving crimes. Obtain information by talking to the locals, gather clues, and make use of props that you assemble yourself to solve the case. When you’re not being an amateur crime sleuth, you will also get to enter Nico’s memories and learn more about our charming puppy protagonist, also eventually finding out what this trip was all about.

Sunset Hills is slated for a Q3 2024 release, and the game is available to wishlist now on Steam! Now that the game is fully funded for development, Sunset Hills will be released on Steam and Nintendo Switch, with Xbox and PlayStation console releases planned in the future as well.
