Terraria’s September State Of The Game Out Now

The latest and greatest happenings from the world of Terraria

Terraria Updates Here And There

Patch 1.4.5 Well On Its Way To Completion For All Platforms

Terraria 1.4.5 is inching ever closer to completion! The team shared in the State of the Game post on Steam that they have the “final list in-hand” and that they’re “hard at work with getting all of that content together.” At this point, it has turned into quite an update that surpassed the developers’ own expectations—and taking longer than expected as well. However, they assured that the end of the patch development is nearing and they “hope that it will not be too much longer before we can get and give a sense for timing.”

With that said, no new spoilers from this State of the Game! Nonetheless, there have been spoilers dropped in the previous State of the Games—it’s probably a good time to check those out to hype yourself up even more for the incoming update.
Don’t worry, Console and Mobile Terraria players—you’re not left in the dark. DR Studios, the team behind the console and mobile ports of the game, are hard at work at not just adding the changes and content of 1.4.5 to the ports, but also thinking of ways to “evolve and improve the experience” on these platforms. For one thing, one of their areas of focus was on how to fix the issue of a cluttered screen, especially on devices with smaller screens such as mobile phones. Terraria, as a sandbox game, is full of control buttons, which does not translate as well to platforms with fewer buttons than a keyboard. However, they’ve finally found their answer—Radial Buttons!

This new mechanic will let players combine up to four different actions into one button, perhaps depending on the length of time of a button press or a certain button combination. It will also support quick swipe gestures, which will make using items an instant button swipe. Now, there will be easy grabbing of those potions! No further details have been shared just yet, so keep your eyes peeled for more updates.

tModLoader Continues To Serve And Deliver

Terraria has been around for quite some time now, and players are always looking for new ways to enjoy the game. Hence, tModLoader and its Steam Workshop are there to spice things up! With over 6000 mods and counting for you to enjoy, there’s something there for everyone. tModLoader continues to be improved upon with each monthly update, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

One of the highlights for this month’s update is the new ability for Mac and Linux users to contribute directly to tModLoader! Modding has usually been a thing for Windows-only users, but Mac and Linux players can now contribute their bright ideas for the Terrarian community to enjoy.

Terraria The Board Game Update And New Merchandise

Paper Fort Games is also hard at work developing Terraria: The Board Game, with ongoing game development, playtesting, art production, and even preparation for upcoming conventions. For this month’s State of the Game, lead developer Chris shared some designs and illustrations of the playmat, the Developer Set, videos showcasing the Boss miniature prototypes (featuring cool lasers!), development news, and the convention they’ll be attending!

If you want an early sneak peek into the ongoing development of the board game, Paper Fort Games will be attending Essen Spiel, the largest tabletop game convention, held in Germany. The event will be held on October 3rd, until the 6th. Or if you would like to support the developers, late pledges via Backerkit are still up!

While you’re waiting for the Terraria board game to be released, why not grab one of this month’s Terraria shirts? Every month, Terraria makes it a point to launch a new shirt design—for September, the infamous Flying Dutchman graces the front of the shirt in all of its spooky and ghostly glory. If you want to show your support as one of the Dutchman’s motley crewmen, grab one of the t-shirts on Terraria.shop right now!

Terraria Community Forums Celebrates A Decade Of Fun

Who said old games are no fun? Terraria and its community proves that age is nothing but a number, as they celebrate a decade of Terraria! The celebration is ongoing on the forum, with mini-events such as a painting contest, as well as a call for new forum NPC emotes. The painting contest even features some wonderful prizes, such as a forum title, $100 or $50 USD to spend on the official Terraria merch store, and the first placer will even get the chance to name one in-game town pet (with Re-Logic’s approval, of course)! There’s even a hidden spoiler for the game floating about somewhere in the forums—will you be able to spot it?

And those are some of the highlights in September’s State of the Game! For the full thread, visit Terraria’s Steam page for all the details, as well as a showcase of amazing fan art of the game as well as the incredible speed runs by some of the community’s most talented players.
