Patch 1.11 Arrives for The Plucky Squire with a Fresh Behind-the-Scenes Look

Bugs Squashed on PC: A Peek at the Trailerā€™s Creative Development

The Plucky Squire, the visually captivating indie, action-adventure game, has just rolled out Patch 1.11, addressing several gameplay issues. Known for its seamless blend of 2D and 3D hand-drawn art styles and storybook mechanics, this update fixes key problems on PC. All Possible Futures, the gameā€™s developers, has confirmed via X (formerly Twitter) that console updates are still in progress.

In addition to these fixes, All Possible Futures has also released a ā€œMaking Ofā€ video for the official launch trailer of The Plucky Squire.

The Plucky Squire is an Indie Action-Adventure Game with Storybook Mechanics

The Plucky Squire is an indie action-adventure game made by All Possible Futures, a game development studio founded by James Turner, the former art director for Pokemon Sword and Shield and Jonathan Biddle, one of the creators of the indie platformer, Thomas Was Alone.

The core appeal of The Plucky Squire lies in its imaginative blend of 2D and 3D gameplay mechanics. The player controls Jot, a squire whose story starts within the confines of a childrenā€™s storybook but quickly leaps off the page and transitions between a childrenā€™s storybook and another world in which Jot is presented as a miniature toy that comes to life in a childrenā€™s bedroom.

List of Patch 1.11 Fixes

Here is a breakdown of all fixes included in Patch 1.11. The update addresses several gameplay issues for Chapters 2, 6, 7, and 8 along with refinements in the gameā€™s graphics.

āš«ļøŽ Fixed bubbles occasionally not spawning in Chapter 8 minigame.

āš«ļøŽ Fixed overexposed textures in desk scenes.

āš«ļøŽ Fixed Glitchbird count resetting when reloading a save from Save History menu, ā€˜Saviour of the Glitchbirdsā€™ achievement can now be completed when using Save History functionality.

BTS: The Making of The Plucky Squire Launch Trailer

Alongside the patch, a ā€œMaking Ofā€ video of The Plucky Squireā€™s launch trailer has been released. This behind-the-scenes footage offers insight into the creative process behind the gameā€™s promotional material.

The trailerā€™s whimsical and papercraft-inspired art style was brought to life through the work of  paper engineers, Julia Yus and Yeray Perez Vallejo at a studio in Madrid. Their expertise in crafting pop-ups and paper models has truly captured the visual style of the game.

The BTS video offers a glimpse into the intricacies of the development process behind The Plucky Squire. It dives deep into how physical paper models were meticulously crafted to recreate the storybook visuals and the effort required to blend this art style in a game.

The Plucky Squire is available on PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and Nintendo Switch for $29.99 USD.
