Each With Its Own Magical Twist

Cozy game enjoyers are in for a real treat! Magical and cozy games The Witch’s Bakery and Cat Cafe Manager 2 have launched their respective Kickstarters today! These two fantastic cozy games are set for development, but need the help of cozy game fans to become a reality. Both offer a heartwarming and emotional experience, each with their own charming blend of lovely and enchanting. Let's get into each of them!

The Witch’s Bakery Rolling In Soon With Baguettes And Croissants

Manage your magical bakery as a joyful little witch in the city of love, Paris! The Witch’s Bakery puts players into the shoes of Lunne, who moves to modern-day Paris from the countryside with her cat associate Orio to start a new life and fulfill her dream as a witch-baker. Serve customers delicious bread by day, and explore the sights and secrets of Paris by evening, before retiring to your cozy atelier by night to rest and improve your magic.

But you won’t just be baking bread day to day and earning those hard-earned coins. Lunne is blessed with special powers—she can enter people’s hearts and see the repressed emotions they have been dearly keeping inside. Having had this unique ability since childhood, she soon found out that she could help people come to terms with these feelings and heal them…with the power of her bread! Now as an adult, she moves to the capital of France to bring her dream to fruition: bringing comfort to all with warm loaves of bread and pastries.

Coming from the countryside, Lunne was not prepared for all the surprises Paris had in store for her. Certain individuals couldn’t just be healed by bread itself—she needed to deep dive into their heart and save them! Will she be able to return the hearts and emotions of the people to what it was once?

More Than Halfway Through The Goal

As of writing, the Kickstarter has garnered $67,071 USD despite being only up for fifteen hours. With 29 days to go, the $77K USD or €70K EUR goal is just an arm’s length away. Many backer slots are still open, along with interesting add-ons to check out—are you Team Pain au Chocolat or Team Chocolatine? Get a badge to show your true colors. With the help of supporters and the funds raised, The Witch’s Bakery is then slated for a 2025 release.

This is Sunny Lab’s debut title, as it is a relatively new studio that was only established in 2022. Its team is composed of individuals with both experience in the game industry as well as “shared passion for 2D games and the mission to create stories that offer hopeful perspectives,” where they built the company around the values that are most important to them: Sincerity, Optimism, and Adventure.

Cat Cafe Manager 2: Big City Bliss, Paw-sitively Cute

While you’re managing a bakery over at The Witch’s Bakery, in Cat Cafe Manager 2, you’d be handling cats and coffee! Moving into the sleepy shopping street of Cuttycrumb Lane with a task to help bring life into the quiet avenue, suddenly a mysterious faerie feline takes hold of your smartphone through possession, and you find out a malevolent force is twisting people’s hearts and emotions to feel lonely, worried, and isolated. It’s up to you to ease their growing pains by countering it with the sheer power of adorable cats, delicious coffee, and a warm community.

Cat Cafe Manager 2: Big City Bliss takes place in the fictional town of Covestadt, a modern seaside metropolis which just happens to be built right on top of an old witches’ coven. Despite its growing modernity, the feel and culture of folklore and magic still lingers in the air. Meet a colorful cast of people (a number of which are familiar faces from the first game) and establish a little piece of home and family in this seaside community to banish this evil force for good!

An Upgraded Sequel, Fulfilling Ideas Of The Past

As indicated from the title, Cat Cafe Manager is the sequel to the original game of the same name, released in April 2020. The first title Cat Cafe Manager was developed by a small team of three and an equally tiny budget. “We had tons of ideas for the game, but had to temper our ambitions due to the size of the team and our limited time and money. As soon as we released our game, we were absolutely blown away by the overwhelming fan support it received, and we became really excited about creating a sequel that would meet those initial expectations!” Roost Games is now a ten-person team, working alongside several contractors and freelancers, wholly excited to bring you the next best thing since Cat Cafe Manager—Cat Cafe Manager 2!

Cat Cafe Manager 2 projects a mid-2026 Early Access release on Steam, with the Nintendo Switch version releasing in 2027 after it exits Early Access. As of writing, the Kickstarter is more than 50% funded, sitting at $29,372 USD raised with 574 backers and 29 days to go until its conclusion.

Indie Developers Support Each Other

In a beautiful display of camaraderie, Roost Games and Sunny Lab Games showed support for each other’s Kickstarter campaigns by plugging the respective Kickstarters on their official X (Twitter) accounts. Both studios hail from Europe (Sunny Lab Games in France, Roost Games from the Netherlands), and are sure showcasing their projects that ooze with charm and culture from their homelands.
