To the Moon, the indie gem renowned for its emotional storytelling, will soon be available on Xbox Series X|S and Playstation 5. Developer Freebird Games and publisher Serenity Forge have confirmed that the acclaimed time-travel adventure will launch on these consoles on October 8, 2024 with a price tag of $10 USD.
Alongside the console release, Freebird Games has introduced a new spin off, Just a To the Moon Series Beach Episode. This standalone expansion, described by the developers as “something of a reunion for the characters” is set at the Golden Lobster Hotel & Resort where players can meet characters from other Freebird Games such as To the Moon, Finding Paradise and Impostor Factory.
To the Moon is a Journey Through Time, Memories, and Wishes
At the heart of To the Moon lies a deeply emotional narrative about memory and the fulfillment of last wishes. Players follow two doctors, Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts, who use cutting-edge technology to alter the memories of dying patients, allowing them to experience their final unfulfilled desires. The doctors enter the mind of Johnny, an elderly man whose dying wish is to visit the moon. As players journey through Johnny’s memories, they unravel the reasons behind his wish and explore his life.
To the Moon Started a Series of New Games
Following the success of To the Moon, Freebird Games expanded the universe with additional titles. Finding Paradise, the sequel, continues the theme of revisiting a dying patient’s life to fulfill their final wish, though this time with a completely new character. Freebird also released Impostor Factory, a twist on the formula that introduces a time-travel murder mystery, and A Bird Story, a short interactive animation about a boy and an injured bird intriguingly told without any dialogues.
