The Goose Is Honking In ACMI
Learn More About The Makings Of Untitled Goose Game
Honk honk! The Untitled Goose Game is arriving at ACMI for a special interactive art exhibition called Honk! Untitled Goose Exhibition, which will invite you into a behind-the-scenes look of the iconic slapstick goose game and its cheeky world. Several displays featuring never-before-seen concept art, early development sketches, and design material that helped shape the goose game to its final form. How was the goose animated? How was the village mapped out? These questions can be answered through the exhibit. Even tidbits on how it was programmed will be presented, from House House’s GitHub repository to the exhibition.
Accompanying these displays will be playable alpha and beta versions of the Untitled Goose Game from early on in development, showcasing the journey House House went through into creating this interesting game. Taking note of the game’s roots in slapstick comedy, the exhibition will also connect the game’s design to the history of slapstick throughout the century of film and television.
With colorful, bright, and glass-less displays, it is surely a treat for the whole family to enjoy. Displays will have sound effect buttons, flipbooks, and the like, to get into the interactive feel and to immerse the viewers into the world of the Goose Game. Those with a deeper interest in video games have the option to explore more of the inner workings of game’s technical development and to explore critical game design details through exclusive ACMI video content.
And, one of the best parts of the exhibition is that it’s completely free! So if you live near the Fed Square area in Melbourne or would like to visit, make sure to check the exhibition out!
Featuring The Lovable Goose At Home Turf
House House, the developers of the hilariously fun Untitled Goose Game, is an indie game development studio based in Melbourne, Australia. Following their first game release, quirky multiplayer sports game Push Me Pull You, was Untitled Goose Game, a humorous game that puts you into the shoes (er, webbed feet) of a naughty little goose on to cause all sorts of mayhem. It shot up in popularity for its slapstick comedy and sandbox mechanics which made for a ton of fun. As of writing, it has over 17,000 reviews, with an Overwhelmingly Positive overall rating. For sure, it has captured the hearts of children and adults alike.
The studio is now developing their next game called Big Walk, which is scheduled to release in 2025. In comparison to Untitled Goose Game, Big Walk has a more chill premise as a cooperative multiplayer adventure game about teamwork, hanging out, and talking with your best buds.
