WEBFISHING Introduces Housecleaning Update

New content, fixes, and a safer game

Cleaning Up WEBFISHING

Tweaks, Improvements, And More

A pretty large patch has made its way to WEBFISHING, called the Housecleaning Update. This huge upgrade introduces “loads of quality of life fixes, tweaks, and a minor amount of silly content.”

Some of the highlights include new items such as the Hand Labeler which allows you to rename any item or fish to your liking and the Shower Lure which has a small chance of spawning a tiny rain cloud above your character, as well as new Rods and Brews to purchase. Cosmetic identity items such as the Non-Binary Shirt and Title, Creature Title, and Cryptid Title are also added into the game. Items can now be stacked up to 99 (perfect for the hoarders out there), and be “locked” through the favorite option to prevent them from appearing in shop sell menus. There’s also the strange anecdote—”Added the ???????? which is accessed through the ???? ?????? and ??? ????????. Yeah.” Will you be able to solve this mystery?

In terms of networking and communication, there has been a Major Internal Network Rework, which developer West notes makes “the entire game feel better and be safer.” This also includes the option to customize servers more, such as with Custom Lobby Titles, a Player Count limit, and the choice to make it a Friends-Only Lobby.

A Special Message From The Dev

With a title from a solo developer gaining almost instant fame for its silly but lovely and fun gameplay, it may be quite a bit overwhelming for them. Nevertheless, they would like to thank all of the supporters and players that got their charming little fishing game to the top of the charts.

West shared in the Steam news post, “Now that hopefully some of the chaos has settled, I just want to thank everyone for hanging in there and playing WEBFISHING. I could've never ever expected the response to this game, and frankly, I want to apologize for some of this nonsense. The launch product was rushed and a bit of a mess.” The launch version of WEBFISHING was only completed within five months, which may have contributed to the number of bugs and glitches that were present. “Hopefully, this patch addresses most of the major issues with the game (and I can finally sleep a bit :) ). I'm beyond grateful that you all decided to spend your time on this silly $5 game, and put up with all the bugs and nonsense that have from with it. Happy fishin, folks!”
