WEBFISHING Returns After Two Years

Two years in the making, coming back on Steam!

Cozy Fishing With The Buddies

Social Fishing Simulator

Cozy social multiplayer fishing game WEBFISHING comes to Steam after two years of silence from the developer, lamedeveloper. Originally posted on indie hub itch.io for Goodgis’ Autumn Game Jam, the original game was only made in a span of around 8 days and featured a small range of cosmetics and 40 fish to catch. While the game offered singleplayer, the first iteration also featured an official online server, but presumably due to constraints by the Google Cloud VM (virtual machine) they were using, it was quickly shut down. Since then, it’s been gathering dust in its quaint little spot on itch.io, but it’s still catching the attention of cozy gamers who want to get into the cute fishing game.

Until today! lamedeveloper had officially posted on the itch.io page and on their personal X (Twitter) that WEBFISHING is now on Steam! This new edition of WEBFISHING is a “total rewrite from the ground up,” and is slated for a full release “sometime within the next few months.”

WEBFISHING 2.0

This whole new version of WEBFISHING amps up the ante by a ton, now with almost 100 different creatures to catch! Catch anything from tiny snails to huge sharks, then note them in your journal for completion. Recording your catches and finding rare fish will net you well-deserved special rewards too! Bigger fish might be difficult to catch, so don’t forget to upgrade your fishing gear with new baits, lures, and better rods. And of course, you can’t go out in drab wear—you gotta look your best! Customization is a big feature in the game as well, with tons of different cosmetics and props to mix-and-match just the way you want it.

As you go around and catch fish at your leisure, you will also meet other aspiring fishers! Another aspect of WEBFISHING that the developer highlights is that it is designed around being social and hanging out with both friends and strangers. Meet new people, catch fish together, and also find hidden spots!

While there is no specified release date as of writing, WEBFISHING is available to wishlist on Steam! Add the game to your wishlist for the latest updates, or follow the developer over at X (Twitter) under the username @westthewerst.
