Auroch Digital to Lead Console Port

One of the most celebrated indie RPGs of recent years, Wildermyth, is making its way to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Auroch Digital, known for games such as Warhammer 40k Boltgun and Mars Horizon will spearhead the console porting of Wildermyth after acquiring the game from its original developer, Worldwalker Games in April 2023.

What Is Wildermyth and What Makes it Special?

A Unique Combination of Tactical Combat and Storytelling

Wildermyth is a tactical RPG that blends strategic, turn-based combat with an evolving narrative that players shape through their decisions. Players control characters designed as paper cut outs with grid based combat and comic-like story presentation. The game is unique because it uses procedurally generated heroes who embark on quests with different backstories. As players progress in the game, the characters age, grow, form relationships and even become legendary figures.

Tactical Combat Inspired By XCOM

Beyond storytelling, Wildermyth features grid-based tactical combat heavily inspired by XCOM. In Wildermyth, players can command their group of heroes in grid based battles against various creatures, using their characters' unique abilities and environments to gain the upper hand.

A Unique Combination of Tactical Combat and Storytelling

To provide the best gaming experience for PlayStation players, Wildermyth’s UI and controls have been completely redesigned with the gamepad in mind. Additionally, the PlayStation version of Wildermyth will contain two new features, the Monster Compendium and Local Co-Op Multiplayer for consoles.

The Monster Compendium is a brand new addition to the PlayStation version of Wildermyth. This is a tactical tome that gives players detailed insights into the creatures they’ll face on their journey and includes lore and background on the various factions and monsters while the local co-op multiplayer, allows up to four players to join in on the adventure together.

Additionally, if you purchase the physical copy of Wildermyth, you’ll also receive a physical version of the Monster Compendium. The Wildermyth Physical Edition is available for $29.99 USD on Amazon, with a release date set for October 22, 2024.
